ANTI MORSI OPPOSITION RECEIVED FUNDS FROM THE PRO-DEMOCRACY ORGANIZATION SET UP BY THE U.S. STATE DEPT TO PROMOTE DEMOCRACY IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Although the U.S. is seemingly keeping out of the Egyptian civil unrest, the U.S. department of State did aid the opposition by offering ample funds from its pro democrcay organization for the middle east.

The discovery was made by UC Berkeley Investigative Reporting Program.  The pro-democracy program supports both civilians and politicians who are anti-Morsi.

The program is intent at promoting secularism in the Muslim word, and in particular to avoid countries like Egypt from falling into the fundamentalist grip, where the U.S. not only would lose influence and clout, but also some of the strategic interests Egypt has offered the Unites States for decades.

The program however, has bankrolled some activists who are anti Muslim and secularist extremists that are calling for the prosecution of pro Morsi official and politicians.

The program furthermore, runs afoul of Egyptian laws, which prohibit foreign political funding.  In addition, the U.S. is granting emergency aid to Egypt to prevent an economic collapse. Such aid is conditional to the army not keeping power, but quickly returning the country to a democratically elect prime minister and legislature.

The pro-democracy program was started during the Bush presidency, and it has funneled so far, almost a billion dollars in aid to promote democracy.
