A Hialeah man went on a rampage Friday nigh in an apartment complex and killed six people before being shot dead by a SWAT team.
After the shootout, the police found bodies in the hallway and in apartments. One man was killed as he was walking his children across the street. The police thinks the gunman might have targeted him from an upper floor.
The spree killer was not yet identified. The victims too will not be named until all kin is advised.
The shooter appartently entered the building shooting as he went, killing one man in the lobby and other in higher floors. Then he took some hostages.
The gunman had asked the negotiator to put him in contact with his girlfriend and then his mother, but even after these demands were met, he did not cooperate.
The shooter apparently was a resident in the building he targeted.
About 6:30 pm last night police received calls of someone shooting. When the police arrived, they realized that the shooter was roaming from floor to floor, trying to find victims. When he realized the police had arrived he barricaded himself inside one of the apartments.
When the SWAT team decided to enter, they did so in fear he would kill the hostages too.
