SAFETY RECALL : CHAI TEA RECALLED FOR BOTULIN TOXIN RISK




A recall for a Chai tea has been issued for the product due to to a risk of botulism. 

The brand of Chai tea is Harmony Chai of Eastsound of Washington state.  The recall is voluntary.  The tea is a concentrate of roobois chai.  

The Department of Agriculture has determined that the product had not been processed in adherence to safety standards to prevent the risk of Clostridium Botulinum contamination. 

The tea is sold at private cafe`s, grocery stores and farmers markets in Western Washington. 

Below, find the identifiying information for the lots: 

- Concentrated Black Spiced Chai: Bottled in 22 oz (650ml) amber glass UPC 0510501311 and 64 oz (1892.7ml) amber glass jugs UPC 0510501301

- Decaffeinated Roobois Chai: Bottled in 22 oz (624.25 ml) amber glass UPC 9450402431 and 64 oz (1892.7ml) amber glass jugs UPC 0510501301

No illnesses have to far been linked with the product sales.
